It’s been a busy week here in Great Britain. The Semi finals for the HTM and Freestyle to be held at Crufts (Freestyle on 7th March and HTM on 8th March) were held on 26th January.
Really bad weather meant an overnight stay before the competition to make sure we were there! Over 30 cms of snow on the Friday night actually meant we would have missed this so important competition.
It was a full day of “Dancing Dogs” with Intermediate HTM followed by Advanced HTM and then the Advanced Crufts HTM Semi Final just before lunch.
In the afternoon there was the Advanced Crufts Freestyle Semi Final, followed by the Advanced Freestyle and Intermediate Freestyle.
Karen Sykes and Fly won the HTM Semi Final and I was placed 5th with Amber in the same class. My crossbreed Spice was placed 11th in the Freestyle Final so sadly missed out on a place in the top ten to compete at Crufts.
The local media have since been trying to find somewhere large enough for us to train. For the past couple of years we have been allowed to use the Indoor Cricket Nets with wonderful non slip rubber floor – and warm and dry. Yes we have been thoroughly spoilt – but this year the venue was fully booked so looking for somewhere that allows dogs and is 35m x 30m is hard to find.
Radio Derby invited Kath and Karen with Amber and Fly speak live on a mid morning programme. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p013cr86 the interview can be heard at around 1hour 15 minutes.
